1. Overview
MIA for Stores (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a Shopify application whose shopper-facing assistant is called MIA. MIA supports product discovery, matching, outfits, store-information answers, order lookup, and product visualization.
Merchants remain responsible for their storefront privacy notices and lawful configuration of the app.
2. Information we handle
For merchants, we process the Shopify store domain, encrypted authorization details, catalog data, app settings, store guidance, subscription status, provider-usage telemetry, and support communications.
For shoppers, MIA processes the messages, selected products, optional images, and random conversation/request identifiers needed to fulfill a request. For abuse controls, the app derives a one-way rate-limit key from request information; raw IP addresses and browser identifiers are not stored in the chat or provider-usage records.
3. Redacted MIA chats
Shopper-visible user and assistant messages may be retained for up to 90 days and reviewed by authorized MIA personnel to evaluate and improve prompts and service quality. Before storage, we redact detected email addresses, phone numbers, URLs, order identifiers, and sensitive number patterns.
Stored transcripts exclude internal prompts, reasoning, tool payloads, images, storage references, IP addresses, and browser identifiers. Order-lookup turns are skipped entirely. Transcripts are used for prompt evaluation; model fine-tuning is not currently performed.
4. Shopper images
Garment photos used for conversation matching can be held in private temporary storage for up to seven days so the shopper can continue that conversation. Shopper photos used for try-on remain in temporary storage while generation and automatic retries run, then are deleted after success or final failure. Image bytes are not written into the application database.
Generated images are stored so they can be displayed. They are illustrative and can differ from real fit, color, texture, or appearance. Model or mannequin mode does not require a shopper selfie.
5. AI and infrastructure providers
Service providers host the application, database, object storage, and AI processing. Only providers enabled for the deployment receive information needed for their role. Provider call records can include reported token counts, model, latency, success or failure, image settings, and estimated cost; missing provider metrics are left blank.
6. Uses and retention
- Provide, personalize, maintain, and secure MIA for Stores.
- Match requests to merchant products and store information.
- Generate requested visualizations.
- Measure provider usage, troubleshoot failures, and evaluate prompts.
- Meet legal and Shopify obligations.
Redacted chat conversations expire after 90 days and are deleted on merchant uninstall or shop redaction. Other records are retained only as needed for the service, security, contractual, and legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use shopper-uploaded photos for advertising.
7. Privacy requests and Shopify deletion events
Shoppers should first contact the Shopify merchant whose storefront they used. Requests may also be sent to support@miaforstores.com. MIA for Stores processes Shopify’s required customer-data and shop-redaction webhooks; merchant uninstall also removes retained redacted chats.
8. Children, changes, and contact
MIA for Stores is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change and will update the effective date.
